Pub Food

Our kitchen offers delicious pub food for lunch and dinner throughout the week and a superb Sunday lunch with all the trimmings. Tables are available in the Bar, the Restaurant or, weather permitting, you could eat al fresco in the beer garden.
All pub meals are freshly cooked to order, in our kitchen, using fresh ingredients. Take a look at a sample menu, here.

Our drinks.

Beer lovers are sure to find something they like. Our real ale is Doombar  and our lagers are Fosters, San Miguel, Amstel and Birra Moretti. Plus, we serve Aspall Cider and Guinness, and a range of bottled beers.

For wine drinkers we offer a wide range of wines, including sparkling wine and champagne by the glass. We also offer a range of cocktails and soft drinks.

Children are very welcome in the restaurant and beer garden where we have a play area to keep them entertained. Baby changing facilities are also available.

However our licence does not allow under 18s in the bar area.


Our pub is also accessible for people with limited mobility and wheelchair users.


The pub has a varied events calendar and plays a part of village social life in Kelvedon Hatch. We host regular weekly events and some one-off special evenings and seasonal events. Everyone is welcome.

Quiz Night

Monday evenings are pub quiz nights, with cash prizes. New faces are always welcome to come and join in the fun.

Bingo Night

1st Wednesday in the Month is Bingo night. It starts at 8pm and last for just over an hour.

Hosting Your Event

We host  Wedding Anniversaries, funeral wakes, fund raising events and more.  Where we provide the food and drink, room hire is free of charge. You can hire a room in the pub, or our restaurant.

Nearby Essex Attractions

The pub is only 800 yards from the Secret Nuclear Bunker and the Rope Runners High Ropes Adventure Course.

We are conveniently placed to provide good food (and of course good beer and wine) for anyone staying at Kelvedon Hatch Frog Street Caravan & Camping site.

Greensted Church the oldest wooden church in the world is just over 3 miles away. It is a fascinating old building and well worth a visit.

Clubs are welcome

Clubs are very welcome to use the pub for meetings – we’ve hosted car clubs, motorbike clubs, ramblers, cycling groups and birdwatchers. There is no room hire fee.

Pub Walks from The Eagle

There are a number of walks with The Eagle pub as a starting point or lunch stop. Unfortunately we can’t publish the routes on this site due to copyright issues, but you can get some of these walks from Brentwood Ramblers also occasionally walk from the pub.
